The Village of Dousman is located is located in the western area of Waukesha County. As of 2010, Dousman had a population of 2,302.
Dousman offers many different events for it’s residents throughout the year that celebrate the town’s history and bring people together for a fun time. The Dousman Area Farmer’s Market takes place every Wednesday from early May to mid-October and offers tons of goods for purchase. These products include vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, plants, and more! Another yearly event is the Dousman Derby Days. This event has everything from a parade to music and carnival rides to a softball tournament. Perhaps the event that draws the most traffic is the State Frog Jump Championship. This wacky event bring in people from all over who compete to see if their frog will come out on top. It’s a tradition that has been thriving year after year and continues to be a local favorite.
Around the Dousman area there are many different opportunities to get out and experience nature. The Glacial Drumlin State Trail is a 52-mile trail that runs through the center of Dousman. The trail is perfect for biking, but you can also walk if you want to take in all the trail has to offer. To the northeast of town you’ll find the Lapham Peak Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. While there are scenic views and great paths to explore, there more than meets the eye. The Hausmann Nature Center is located in the forest and is a great educational tool for local schools. SummerStage is also located in the forest and is a great venue for live performances with a scenic view.
