The Village of Summit is located along Interstate 94 in western Waukesha County. Summit officially became a village in 2010 and today has an estimated population of around 4,800.
Summit encompasses a good chunk of Waukesha County at 28.5 square miles of land within the village limits. Because this area is so big, the village also manages to have 2.8 square miles of water within the limits, which means a day on the lake is possible no matter where you are. Some of the Lakes within Summit are Golden Lake, the Genesee Lakes, Crooked Lake, the Waterville Millpond, and the Upper and Lower Nemahbin Lakes. All of these lakes are fair in size, but Nemahbin is the largest at just over 500 acres combined. The size and openness of Upper Nemahbin make it ideal for water sports of all kinds like boating, tubing, skiing, and swimming.
Around the area, you’ll find the Lapham Peak Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. This is a great place to take the family on a weekend for some great hiking and unforgettable views. To the south of Summit is the Glacial Drumlin State Trail which offers 52 miles of gorgeous paths available for biking or walking. To the north, you’ll find even more lakes to explore, along with the bigger city of Oconomowoc. This area is also home to multiple golf courses such as the Oconomowoc Country Club and the Chenequa Country Club.
